Oh boy! What a celebration! Thanks so much for all the well-wishes. Chloe' and Lucy are feeling quite special....so many people commented on their beauty and their party ensembles....
They are awfully sweet aren't they??? Chloe' is a bit camera shy and quite modest....Lucy on the other hand knows how to "work it, Baby!"
Are you ever driving somewhere...and suddenly some strange thought pops into your mind? Out of the blue? Seems to happen to me quite often....silly things...
Like today... I was driving to a meeting and suddenly "waffle stompers" popped into my head... which then lead to "double zipper jeans"...which naturally lead to Famolares...corduroy Levis....Dr. Scholl's....and bandana shirts...
I have no idea WHY those particular things came to mind...puzzling...but nonetheless...fascinating to me...
Those of you who were just young children or babies in the late 70's (or God forbid...not even
born!)...are probably wondering what in the heck those things are....
Well....let me tell you....they were "must haves" to a high schooler in Omaha, Nebraska in 1977!!! Anyone who had any fashion sense AT ALL had these in their closet...or in my case laying somewhere in their room!
Great looks...all of them...
Right up there with the shag haircut...the Dorothy Hammill cut... the Olivia Newton John flippy wings...and best of all the Farrah Fawcett mane.
Funny thing...the mind.
It takes you places...
Places that you may or may not have planned on visiting.
As I was driving down the street...experiencing this "Blast from the Past"...a great song came on the radio....
Yeah... you guessed it!
Perhaps the greatest song of its day....
"Hotel California" by the Eagles....
Oh....memories...
The seventies... a great decade...
Social Activism....amazing music....
But perhaps...
Most memorable...
The fashions!
If you want to relive...or perhaps be introduced to some of the greatest fashions ever.... go here.
(Yes...I am being a little flip about the greatness of 70's fashions...but truly....a great decade...and really groovy memories!)

I was JUST commenting about the greatness of 70's music on my blawg!!! We think alike. OH, and TAG, you're it!!!
PS...you MUST have forgotten to mention the most fabulous 70's head of hair of all time, why---David Cassidy!

Oh, this made me laugh!! I was at work one night talking about the Dorothy Hammill haircut I sported in 5th and 6th grade and this sweet little thing I work with said: "Who's Dorothy Hammill?" Aaaarrgh, am I THAT old???

Being a parent in the seventies, I recall thinking, "What next????". XOX, Mom

There was some great music that came out of the 70's, I agree. One of my favorite recordings that I currently have in my CD player is The Live album by Peter Frampton. What a great album--not a bad song on there.

ah... the 70's - the decade when the world was my oyster - divided into thirds: high school, college, Ivory Coast - oh little sis - you got me reeling in memory vision - but the fashion for me was leotards, overalls and high top tennis shoes mixed in with vintage sweater sets from the Goodwill and then wild, brightly colored west African tailor made Fulani dresses...
the music: Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Jefferson Starship, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Bambeya Jazz...
thanks for the memory

OMG!! Famolares!! Loved those shoe back then! I haven't thought of those in....well, let's just say years!! What about those Earth Shoes? Remember the ones where the front of the sole was a little thicker than the back? I always thought that was a little strange, but I did have a pair of them!! Oh, and did you have the jeans with the rainbow stitching that went up one side, across, and down the other? Hmmmm.....now you've got me thinking....

OMigosh, I'm so over the 70's! But it was a weird decade and deserves to be remembered. You did a good job.

I am dying over here.....FAMOLARES!! At first I was thinking hmmmm...that sounds familar...and then I clicked the link and vaulted head first down memory lane. Ooohhhh they were also the must haves of Sterling Heights Michigan!! I love the 70's....8 tracks....Muskrat Love......big frame tinted glasses with the little sticker in the lower corner..... KC & the Sunshine band.... mushroom umbrellas....HR PuffinStuff & Witchypoo.....AMC Gremlins...
See..... now you've got me going!!

OK, OK, my turn...patchouli oil, granny glasses, Crosby Still Nash and Young "My House", White Bird....took me from high school to San Fransisco and Jefferson Airplane's last free concert in Golden Gate Park before flying on to the Starship.
thanks for the memory....

Okay...I graduated in 1977 so this post is SO up my alley. And let us not forget (or maybe we do) dittos and yellow Levis! Holy Moly were we HOT or what!!! LOL! Great post!

oh man and they had to be the REAL Dr. Scholls, too. Not the fake ones. That surely resulted in lower status ranking within 5 seconds of seeing them and hearing the clackity clack of them across the floor!
Posted by: teresa | May 01, 2007 at 04:56 PM
Oh MAN! You're taking me BACK now!
Ihad all of those....and remember how dang uncomfortable those clickety-clack wooden Dr. Scholls were? Could never figure them out! I also remember Jordache, Dittos and Luv-Its jeans...and Candie's shoes (in their infancy!). I sported a fierce Dorothy Hammil and later the Farrah "do!"
How about the Beach Boys and Foreigner. How about the Beatles "Rubber SOul" and then later, ELO Fleetwood Mac "Rumors?!?!" YIKERS...these are SOME memories!
