I Did It!

Stitched_carol Hot diggity dog!  My first attempt at stitching!!!!  Not too bad, really!  This sweet thing is my Aunt Carol.  My grandma was a photographer and her favorite subjects were her children.  Wait until you see photos of my beach babe mom!  I am having too much fun with this blog thing!  Three posts in two days.  Of course, I have gotten absolutely nothing else done...oh I did get May baskets made for my students...with the help of Emily.  Thanks Em!  Well, I better get something accomplished....I'm off!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Hydrangea_big_2 Three inches!  That's what Gary....our resident meteorologist found in the rain gauge this morning, and it is still coming down!  I know we need it, but I wish it would rain at night and be sunny during the day.  Oh well, the pay off will be these beauties. The rain does make everything look so lush.  If it would stop for a few minutes I would go out and take some pictures.  Lucy and Chloe, our precious pups,Chloe3  really don't like the rain.  Poor babies are forced to go out and take care of "business"...believe me...that don't stay out Lucy3any longer than necessary!

A New Beginning...

Well, it's spring....new beginnings everywhere...  My first post...lush foliage and flowers popping up everywhere... baby bunnies teasing my silly beagles....and Emily returning home from the University. What a day!  Pouring rain...you know the saying.."April showers bring May flowers.."  Well, that's all well and good, but must it be raining cats and dogs when we are moving her out of her dorm!?  Apparently so...   OK, so I can handle the rain, but... here's some advice for anyone who might have a similar experience in the future.  When you pay the rental fee on a cart to move the GOBS of stuff your child has accumulated in the past nine months...always, and I do mean ALWAYS, make sure all four wheels are attached securely!!!  We were moving along just fine...the cart was stacked as high as we felt we could easily navigate...we were heading down the hall, down the elevator, to the door...and oops...one wheel fell off!  It just FELL off!  No big deal though...it was still rolling fine with just three wheels.  We got to the end of the sidewalk, removed the first item from the cart, which apparently threw the whole cart off balance...and bang...(and remember....the RAIN?) stuff everywhere! Well, what do you do?  We picked it up...carried it to the car, and went back for more!  We were feeling pretty smug now...we knew we had to balance the cart as we unloaded it... trip two went just fine...no mishaps.  We were in the home stretch now...last load... a little rolling three drawer dresser type thing...all the drawers were loaded... we got it to the end of the sidewalk...almost there....picked it up to carry to the car....the bottom falls out...more stuff everywhere...and yes..it is STILL raining!!!!  Once again we kept our chins up and prayed that nobody was watching us..(we must have closely resembled the Three Stooges!) picked it up and finished loading the car.  I couldn't help but start to giggle...which really didn't fly too well with Gary...but hey...better laugh than cry, I always say!  And we were done!!!  Our dear little girl (and all her stuff) was coming home! You know... another piece of advice....if the cart you have rented does indeed have only three wheels....return it and ask for another one!  Wish I had thought of that earlier!  But anyway, all is well..at least it will be when my car gets unloaded!  And it is a new beginning.... lots to look forward to.  A new season, beautiful flowers, more time with Princess Emily...and a million hair care implements accessorizing the bathroom counter!
