Being in the mountains...
I thought we would see some wild animals...
You know...
Bears and such.
We did see plenty of deer and antelope...
And some huge herds of these...
Yep... the buffalo were roaming while the deer and the antelope played.
But these guys...
Not so wild...
But awfully cute!
And VERY friendly...
This guy stuck his head in my window...
WOAH! I thought he was going to give me a great big kiss!
I think he was hoping for a snack...
And yes...
There are signs everywhere saying...
"Do Not Get Too Close To The Animals!"
Apparently...
He can't read!
Well....
We're home again.
What fantastic memories we will have of our roadtrip!
Such scenery...
We took a different route home so we could see this...
Majestic, isn't it?
And here's a view of George's profile...
This part of South Dakota is gorgeous...
After all the delightful sights we saw...
Looking at this...
We knew we were headed home.
Isn't it beautiful?
Home Sweet Home
Forgot to include the cowboys!
Ya know...
Travelling with children is fun...
But travelling without children...
Delightfully relaxing.
After each long day of sightseeing...
Instead of taking the kids to Mc Donalds and the hotel swimming pool...
We headed here...
The Town Square Tavern...
See the good lookin' guy in the yellow shirt on the right.... I know him!
We would come here and find a seat on the deck... which overlooks the Town Square.
We would then order something cool and refreshing...
And watch the people and the sights.
For instance...
If I had a nickel for every time someone had their picture taken in front of this... well... I'd be on a permanent vacation!
At 6:00.... the shoot out happened...
And we had the perfect view from our perch above Town Square... this is where the cowboys come in!
Yep... and when that was over...
We would sit back and watch the stage coach driver take folks for rides around town...
Notice the ice cream cone... even rough tough cowboys need a treat once in awhile!
Oh yeah...
What a life...
Sitting outside... beautiful weather... low 70's... no humidity... 40's at night...
When it was time to leave, we would walk about 3 blocks to our hotel and call it an evening.
Yep!
I have a new appreciation for all three!
Never have I seen so many bikers... love the sound of Harleys now...
And cowboys! Yep.... there is somethin' about a man in chaps!
More about those later...
I thought I would share a few blooms from the mountainside with you today.
But first...
For Mom...
Silly us...
Under the antler arch at the square in Jackson.
Love those antlers!
Here are some pretties from the mountains.
Today we left Jackson and headed east...
Finally arrived in Keystone, South Dakota...
Tomorrow... Mt. Rushmore and Deadwood....
Maybe even Sturgis.... Harley's you know!
See ya!
That's what I said...
And that's what he did!
That sweet ol' Mr. Bliss!
We decided where to go...
Loaded the car...
And were on the road heading west by 2:00!
This is the first vacation for JUST the two of us.... ever!
It's amazing...
The changes in landscape and color while passing through Nebraska to Wyoming....
Here's a few sights we saw along the way...
After two long days.... and over 900 miles...
We have arrived in Jackson, Wyoming....
Have a lovely room looking at the Tetons...
Tomorrow...
Grand Teton National Park....
Can't wait to see!
I'll keep in touch!
Golly... it's been awhile.
The sale went great... sold about 140 pounds of fabric... plus some other treasures. Sure glad we had it last week... it's raining here... AGAIN!
Did you ever notice just how fast those doggone weeds grow? They certainly seem to like the rainy weather... holy cow, they're taking over!!! Must get out there and get them pulled... this gardening thing is a lot of work!
Speaking of which...
Notice the raindrops.... the sun finally peeked out just before sunset tonight...
The house is sort of put back together... now if I can just keep it this way.
I am going to try REAL hard to use only what I have...
And play!
Will you join me???
Did everyone have a nice weekend? I hope so.
After spending ALL day Saturday in the basement...
The dumpster is FULL!!! Who would've thought I could fill it so fast!!! I need to climb in and stomp things down so I can fit some more in there... yes... there's more....
Today was spent getting ready for the "Yard Sale"... I like that term much better than "Garage Sale"....
I have decided to sell this...
Yep... my quilting fabric....
When I pulled it out of the closet, cupboards, shelves, drawers...
I was amazed at just how much I have...
This just proves I COULD be one of those women on Oprah or Montel...
Anyway... I am selling it by the pound...
And this is what one pound of fabric looks like.... it amounts to about 3 1/2 to 4 yards.
Some really great stuff!
I sure hope some of it sells!
The dumpster that sits in my driveway has brought with it an unbelievable feeling of satisfaction!
Mr. Bliss... you know... he's the guy who rolls his eyes and grunts about me being such a collector/pack rat. Well... let me tell you, Mr. Bliss!!!! It takes one to know one!
Yesterday we... and I use that term loosely... cleaned the garage. Now... if left to the devices of Mr. Bliss... he would have tossed a few obvious bits here and there... swept it out and called it good... and then of course popped open a brewsky cuz it was such hard work...
But no! Uh uh! The "Dumpster Diva"... that's me... stopped him in his tracks and let him know who was boss on this job... and the garage was going to be CLEANED!!! Top to bottom!
After forcing encouraging Mr. Bliss to empty every single dusty, dirty, cobwebby shelf... and "helping" him part with quite a few of his "treasures"... I sent him away. I could tell he just wouldn't be able to take it....
After he left... the fun began... I swept, hosed out, pitched and rearranged that messy, testosterone-filled man cave. The shelves are now organized according to function and frequency of use... The layout itself is much more functional... I even considered labels... and it is a much more aesthetically pleasing space... (that's decorator talk for... it looks better!) A little potpourri and it would be just about perfect!!!
Yep uh huh! HERE ME ROAR, BABY!!!!
TODAY THE GARAGE.... TOMORROW THE WORLD!!!
